Your first workflow
Build a durable workflow with a deterministic step, an agent decision, and an approval before an external action.
A workflow is the right starting point when part of the process must be exact and another part needs judgement. For example, collect account data deterministically, ask an agent to classify the risk, then wait for a person before changing an external system.
Design the path
Use four steps:
- Start from a manual, scheduled, event, webhook, or API trigger.
- Read the records needed for the decision.
- Call a narrowly scoped agent and require structured output.
- Pause for approval before any write action.
Test the draft
Run the draft against inputs your team already understands. Check where it waited, which records the agent read, and whether a retry would repeat an external action safely. Then create an evaluation case set before publishing a production version.
