Lifecycle statuses

Interpret the states shared by long-running synchronization, workflow, agent, and evaluation work.

Long-running work should expose a status and a reason, rather than forcing clients to infer progress from elapsed time.

Status	Meaning	Typical next action
Pending	Accepted but not yet started.	Wait or inspect queue capacity.
Running	Currently executing.	Read progress or trace data.
Waiting	Paused for approval, time, or an external event.	Complete the named dependency.
Succeeded	Finished with its expected outcome.	Consume the result.
Failed	Stopped because a step could not complete.	Inspect the failure, then retry or remediate.
Cancelled	Stopped intentionally.	Confirm whether partial work requires cleanup.
